Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Salihu Danladi is a Nigerian engineer and politician who serves as the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly. He was first elected Speaker in June 2019 at the age of 34, making him one of the youngest presiding officers of a state legislature in Nigeria. Following his re-election to represent the Ilesha-Gwanara State Constituency in the 2023 general elections, he was unanimously re-elected as Speaker of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly.
He was born on May 31, 1985, in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. Danladi began his education at Baruten Local Government Education Authority Primary School, Gwanara, before attending Baptist Grammar School, Okuta, and later St. Anthony Secondary School, Ilorin, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate in 2001. He proceeded to Kaduna Polytechnic, earning both a National Diploma (ND) and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. In 2016, he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna.
Before entering politics, Danladi worked at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where he served from 2010 to 2018. During his student years, he actively participated in student leadership, holding positions in student associations that helped shape his leadership and public service experience.
His political career gained momentum in 2019 when he contested and won the election to represent Ilesha-Gwanara State Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Shortly after his inauguration, he was unanimously elected Speaker of the 9th Assembly. In 2023, he secured re-election as a lawmaker and was again unanimously chosen by his colleagues to lead the 10th Assembly.
As Speaker, Yakubu Salihu Danladi has been associated with legislative reforms and constituency development. His representation has focused on road rehabilitation, construction of classrooms, provision of boreholes, installation of solar-powered streetlights, educational support programmes, and other community development initiatives across Baruten Local Government Area and Kwara State.
Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi is widely recognized for combining his engineering background with legislative leadership. His emergence as one of Nigeria's youngest state assembly speakers has made him a notable figure in contemporary Nigerian politics, particularly in Kwara State.
