About Sanni Salau Ogembe (Hon.)

Hon. Sanni Salau Ogembe, also known as Ejanla, is a Nigerian politician and community leader from Kogi State. He is associated with the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency and has been active in the political affairs of Kogi Central. His political career has included contests for elective office and extensive grassroots engagement within the constituency.

Ogembe's political involvement predates his current bid for the House of Representatives. In the 2019 Kogi State House of Assembly election, he contested the Okene II (South) State Constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also contested the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 House of Representatives election as the PDP candidate, although he was not elected on that occasion.

Over the years, Ogembe has developed a political profile around community engagement, youth empowerment and support for residents within Kogi Central. His public activities have included efforts to facilitate employment opportunities, support human-capital development and promote entrepreneurship among young people in the Okene/Ogori-Magongo area. These activities have formed part of his grassroots political engagement.

In 2026, Ogembe sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency. He emerged as the party's candidate following the APC primary conducted in Kogi State in May 2026. His emergence marked a change from his earlier political affiliation with the PDP and placed him on the APC platform for the 2027 election.

His political transition to the APC also generated controversy during the party's screening process. Reports in May 2026 said he was listed among aspirants who were not cleared, following a petition that raised questions about documents submitted during screening. The APC did not publicly provide detailed reasons for every aspirant's status at the time. He nevertheless subsequently appeared as the APC candidate for the constituency in the party's announced list and has since publicly identified himself as the party's 2027 candidate.

As the APC candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election, Ogembe is seeking to represent the people of Okene and Ogori-Magongo at the National Assembly. His stated areas of interest include youth empowerment, support for women, agriculture and entrepreneurship, as well as infrastructure and improved representation for communities across the constituency.

Sanni Salau Ogembe's political journey has therefore involved participation at both state and federal levels, including previous contests under the PDP and his subsequent emergence under the APC. His 2027 candidacy represents another attempt to secure federal legislative representation for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency.
