About Peter Atianashie Akpanke (Hon.)

Biography of Hon. Peter Atianashie Akpanke

Hon. Peter Atianashie Akpanke, popularly known as “De Solid Rock,” is a Nigerian politician and legislator from Cross River State. He was born on 13 July 1982 in Ketting Village, Bendi, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State. He represents the Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Akpanke has a bachelor's degree and entered public life through grassroots political engagement and community activities. His background is closely connected to the communities of Obanliku, Obudu and Bekwarra, where he has maintained strong relationships with local residents and community organisations.

He contested the 2023 general election for the Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra Federal Constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He won the election and became a member of the 10th National Assembly, taking office as a first-term member of the House of Representatives.

During his time in the National Assembly, Akpanke has participated in legislative activities and constituency engagements focused on infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and community development. He has also drawn attention to development needs within the three local government areas that make up his constituency.

His constituency activities have included support for community projects, educational initiatives and empowerment programmes. He has also been involved in efforts to identify abandoned or incomplete projects within the constituency and seek government attention toward their rehabilitation.

In May 2025, Akpanke defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress (APC), joining the ruling party at the federal level. His political transition marked a change in the platform through which he participates in national politics.

Peter Atianashie Akpanke's public career has therefore combined grassroots engagement, community development and federal legislative representation. As a member of the National Assembly, he continues to represent the people of Obanliku, Obudu and Bekwarra in the federal legislature.
