Oyeyemi Olasumbo Florence is a Nigerian politician, public administrator, finance specialist and industrial chemist from Kwara State. She is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has built her career through education, financial management, public administration and political service. She is associated with the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.
Florence Oyeyemi studied Industrial Chemistry and later developed additional professional expertise in finance, accounting and public administration. She is an alumna of the University of Ilorin and has also undertaken professional training in areas including public-sector financial management and international financial reporting. Her professional qualifications include Certified Fraud Examiner and other finance-related certifications.
Before entering government, Oyeyemi worked in education and administration. She began her career at Roemichs International School in Ilorin, where she progressed through teaching and administrative responsibilities and eventually served as an Administrative Manager and Public Relations Officer. She also worked with Dabco Nigeria Limited in Ilorin.
In 2019, she was appointed Commissioner for Finance and Planning in Kwara State by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Her appointment made her the first woman to serve as Commissioner for Finance and Planning in the state. During her tenure, she was involved in budget planning, public financial management, fiscal transparency and economic sustainability initiatives.
As Finance Commissioner, Oyeyemi participated in programmes aimed at strengthening financial accountability and improving public access to information about government spending. She also served as the Kwara State lead for the Nigeria CARES programme, a World Bank-supported initiative designed to support vulnerable households and small businesses affected by economic difficulties.
After leaving the state executive council, Oyeyemi remained active in the APC and continued her involvement in public affairs. She also served as a campaign spokesperson for the party in Kwara State during the 2023 general elections, drawing on her experience in public communication and political mobilisation.
In 2026, Oyeyemi declared her intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency. She subsequently emerged from the APC primary as the party's candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. Her candidacy has also generated discussion among some APC stakeholders over the party's choice of candidate and the constituency's internal political arrangements.
Oyeyemi Olasumbo Florence's career combines industrial chemistry, education, financial management, public administration and politics. Her experience as a state commissioner and political organiser has positioned her for a move into federal legislative politics, where she is seeking to represent the people of Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin and Oke-Ero in the National Assembly.
