Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and public administrator who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serves as the Majority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, one of the principal leadership positions in the National Assembly.
Senator Bamidele was born on 29 July 1963 in Ekiti State, Nigeria. He received his early education in Nigeria before pursuing higher education and developing a professional career in law, public administration, and politics. His legal background and extensive political experience have contributed significantly to his role in legislative leadership.
Before becoming a senator, Opeyemi Bamidele served in several important political and government positions in Lagos State. He served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, and later Commissioner for Information and Strategy. These positions gave him extensive experience in public administration, policy implementation, youth development, and government communication.
His legislative career began in the House of Representatives, where he represented Ekiti Central Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2015. In the 2019 general elections, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele was elected to represent Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the Senate under the platform of the APC.
