Biography of Hon. Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion

Hon. Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion is a Nigerian lawyer, businesswoman, politician and former member of the House of Representatives from Edo State. She was born on 6 May 1981 into the family of Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom. She represents the Ovia North-East/Ovia South-West Federal Constituency of Edo State and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Igbinedion attended Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City before proceeding to the United Kingdom, where she studied Law at the University of Kent and obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree in 2003. She later earned a Master's degree in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster in 2005. Upon returning to Nigeria, she attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2007.

She entered federal politics in 2015 and was elected to the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the 8th National Assembly. At the time, she was one of the youngest female members of the House. During her tenure, she served as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on House Services and participated in committees including Local Content, Aviation, Downstream Petroleum, Judiciary, Rural Development and Women in Parliament.

During her time in public office, Igbinedion was involved in constituency empowerment programmes focused on women, youths and vulnerable groups. Her initiatives included support for female farmers, provision of sewing machines and motorcycles, skills-development programmes and assistance to internally displaced persons. She has also maintained an interest in legal practice, business development and investment advisory.

In 2024, Igbinedion was associated with the Edo State governorship race before continuing her political career at the federal level. In 2026, she emerged as the APC candidate for the Ovia North-East/Ovia South-West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections. She remains active in politics, with her public activities centred on representation, empowerment, women and youth development, and community affairs.
