Biography of Hon. Mark Chidi Obetta

Hon. Mark Chidi Obetta is a Nigerian politician, businessman and legislator from Enugu State. Born on 29 August 1978, he represents the Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was elected in the 2023 general election on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) and became a member of the 10th National Assembly. He is currently listed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

Obetta has an academic background in business administration. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Before entering politics, he worked in the banking sector, where he held various positions with Guaranty Trust Bank, including branch management responsibilities.

After leaving banking, Obetta became involved in entrepreneurship and established interests in hospitality, real estate, construction and project management. He served as Chairman and Managing Director of Jerry Marriott Hotel and also headed Skyfrost Nigeria Limited, a company involved in real estate, construction and management consultancy. His business career also included employment opportunities and community-oriented activities.

Obetta entered partisan politics in 2010 after previously being involved in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He later joined the Labour Party and contested the Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency seat in 2023, winning the election and becoming a member of the 10th National Assembly. During his time in the House, he has been involved in constituency representation and legislative activities affecting his constituents and the wider national interest.

In 2026, Obetta moved to the All Progressives Congress and emerged as the party's candidate for the Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election. His career combines experience in banking, entrepreneurship, community engagement and federal legislative service.
