Biography of Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori

Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori is a Nigerian lawyer, politician and legislator from Adamawa State. Born on 17 October 1966 in Numan, Adamawa State, he has built a long career in law, public service and legislative representation.

Laori studied Law and obtained his LL.B. degree from the University of Jos before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School in Lagos for his professional legal training. He has practised as a lawyer for several years and has also undertaken further studies, including a master's programme at the Federal University of Technology, Yola. He also has additional training in security studies in Switzerland.

His political career began at the state level when he was elected to represent Numan Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly in 2007. He served for two consecutive terms until 2015 and held several leadership positions, including Chief Whip, Deputy Speaker and Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly. His tenure at the state assembly established him as an experienced legislative leader.

In 2015, Laori moved to the federal level after being elected to the House of Representatives to represent the Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency of Adamawa State. He was subsequently re-elected in 2019 and 2023, giving him extensive experience in the National Assembly. During his time in the House, he has chaired important committees, including the House Committee on FCT Judiciary and the Committee on Public Petitions.

Laori has also been involved in constituency development, with projects and interventions covering areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and public utilities. He has advocated for improved representation, social development and greater attention to the needs of vulnerable members of his constituency.

In March 2026, Laori left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). He has continued his political activities within the APC while maintaining his role as a representative of the Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency.

Beyond politics and law, Laori is known for his involvement in humanitarian and community-oriented activities. He has been described as an advocate for the poor and vulnerable and has supported initiatives involving legal assistance, education and community development. In December 2024, he was elected National President of the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria.

Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori remains one of Adamawa State's experienced legislators, with a political career spanning the state House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
