Kano | House of representatives
Koki Sagir Ibrahim is a Nigerian politician, businessman and legislator from Kano State. He was born on 18 July 1963 and is from Kano Municipal Local Government Area. He represents the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was first elected to the National Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Koki Sagir Ibrahim has an engineering background. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Bayero University, Kano. He also pursued business and management studies, including an MBA through institutions in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. His combination of technical and business education has influenced his professional interests and public-service career.
Before entering politics, Koki was involved in private business and contracting. He founded Project Wheel Limited, which later became part of the Starring Group of Companies. His experience in the private sector gave him exposure to business management, project development and entrepreneurship before he moved into full-time political activity.
Koki entered the 2023 general election as a candidate of the NNPP and won the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. His election made him a member of the 10th National Assembly, where he became involved in legislative activities concerning national development and issues affecting Kano Municipal and the wider country.
During the 10th Assembly, Koki has served as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream). He has also sponsored bills dealing with education, entrepreneurship, statistics, healthcare and other areas of public development. Among the proposals associated with him are bills seeking the establishment of educational and skills-acquisition institutions, as well as a Federal University of Health Sciences and a Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy in Kano Municipal.
In November 2025, Koki resigned from the NNPP and subsequently joined the APC. His resignation from the NNPP came amid internal disagreements within the party, while he stated that the situation had made it difficult for him to continue effectively representing his constituents. His move to the APC placed him within the ruling party as he continued his work in the House of Representatives.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Koki Sagir Ibrahim is listed as the APC candidate for the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency. His political career therefore combines private-sector experience, engineering and business education, and legislative service at the federal level, with Kano Municipal remaining the constituency at the centre of his political activities.
