Hon. Kayode Moshood Akiolu is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who represents the Lagos Island II Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has served in the National Assembly since 2019.
Akiolu was born in Lagos State and comes from a prominent Lagos family. He is the son of Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos. He received his early education at St. Mary’s Private School, Ajele, Lagos, before attending King’s College, Lagos. He later studied at the university and obtained qualifications in law, including an LL.B and LL.M.
Before entering elective politics, Akiolu gained professional experience in the private sector. He worked with major corporate organisations, including J.P. Morgan, where he developed experience in financial and business-related fields. His professional background contributed to his later interest in economic development, entrepreneurship, and public service.
Akiolu entered politics through the APC and contested the Lagos Island II Federal Constituency seat in the 2019 general election. He won the election and became a member of the House of Representatives. He was subsequently re-elected in 2023, allowing him to continue representing the constituency in the 10th National Assembly.
As a federal lawmaker, Akiolu has participated in legislative debates, committee activities, constituency engagements, and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of his constituents. He has also been involved in empowerment initiatives, particularly programmes supporting women, young people, traders, and other members of the Lagos Island community.
His legislative and constituency activities have focused on areas such as education, youth empowerment, economic opportunities, community development, healthcare, and infrastructure. He has also maintained regular engagement with residents and community stakeholders within Lagos Island II.
In May 2026, Akiolu secured the APC ticket to contest again for the Lagos Island II Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election. His emergence makes him the party's candidate for the constituency as he seeks another term in the House of Representatives.
Through his career as a lawyer, corporate professional, politician, and legislator, Hon. Kayode Moshood Akiolu has established a significant presence in Lagos politics. His public career has been shaped by his commitment to legislative representation, grassroots engagement, youth development, and community empowerment.
