About Joseph Nwobasi (Hon.)

Biography of Hon. Joseph Nwobasi

Hon. Joseph Nwobasi is a Nigerian politician and legislator from Ebonyi State. He was born on 5 February 1979 and represents the Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree and has built his political career through grassroots and state-level legislative service.

Nwobasi began his political career at the grassroots level and served in the Ezza North local government legislative council. He later became a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, where he served for two terms and rose to the position of House Leader. His time in the state legislature gave him experience in parliamentary procedures and constituency representation.

After completing his tenure in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Nwobasi served in the Ebonyi State Government as Senior Special Assistant on the Airport Project. This appointment provided him with additional experience in public administration and government projects.

In the 2023 general election, Nwobasi was elected to the House of Representatives to represent Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He won the seat in a supplementary election held in April 2023 and subsequently became a member of the 10th National Assembly.

In June 2025, Nwobasi left APGA and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). His move marked a change in his political affiliation while he continued representing Ezza North/Ishielu in the National Assembly.

Nwobasi has remained involved in constituency and legislative activities during his federal legislative career. His political background therefore spans grassroots administration, two terms in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, state government service and federal legislative representation.

Ahead of the 2027 general election, Nwobasi is listed as the APC candidate for the Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency, continuing his political involvement in Ebonyi State.
