Biography of Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule

Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule is a Nigerian politician, educationist, and public administrator who represents Lagos West Senatorial District in the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has held several important positions in Lagos State politics and administration.

Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule was born on 27 November 1972 in Lagos State, Nigeria. She received her early education in Lagos before pursuing higher education. She studied Education and later obtained postgraduate qualifications, building a professional background in teaching, educational administration, and public service.

Before entering politics, Adebule worked extensively in the education sector. She gained experience as a teacher and education administrator and became involved in educational planning and management. Her professional experience in education shaped her interest in human-capital development and improving educational opportunities.

Her political career developed through her involvement in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and political activities in Lagos State. She became increasingly active in public affairs and grassroots politics, eventually rising to one of the most important executive positions in the state.

In 2015, Idiat Adebule was elected as the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, serving alongside Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. She became one of the prominent women in Lagos State politics and played a role in the administration of the state during her four-year tenure.

As Deputy Governor, Adebule was involved in matters relating to education, healthcare, women and youth development, social welfare, and public administration. Her background as an educationist also influenced her attention to educational policies and initiatives across Lagos State.

After completing her tenure as Deputy Governor in 2019, Adebule remained active in the APC and continued participating in political and community activities in Lagos State.

In the 2023 general elections, she contested for the Lagos West Senatorial District seat under the platform of the APC. She won the election and was inaugurated as a member of the 10th National Assembly on 13 June 2023.
