Biography of Hon. Fatima Binta Bello

Hon. Fatima Binta Bello is a Nigerian politician, educationist, businesswoman and philanthropist from Gombe State. She is associated with Kaltungo in Gombe State and has built a political career spanning local government administration, the Gombe State Government and the National Assembly.

Bello began her career as a classroom teacher before becoming involved in local government administration. She served as Deputy Chairman of Shongom Local Government Area and later became a member of the Gombe State Executive Council under the administration of former Governor Muhammad Danjuma Goje. Her experience in grassroots administration provided the foundation for her subsequent political career.

She was elected to the House of Representatives to represent the Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency and served for two consecutive terms. During the 8th National Assembly, she served as Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives and was one of the principal female officers of the Assembly. Her legislative career included participation in issues concerning her constituency, women, education and community development.

Bello has also been recognised for her philanthropic activities, particularly in Shongom and surrounding communities. Before and during her political career, she supported educational and community initiatives and was involved in efforts aimed at improving opportunities for people in her constituency.

After leaving the National Assembly, Bello remained involved in public affairs and Gombe State politics. In 2023, she resigned her membership of the Peoples Democratic Party after more than two decades with the party. In 2026, she emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.

Hon. Fatima Binta Bello's public career spans teaching, grassroots administration, state government service and federal legislative representation, with particular involvement in community development and public service in Gombe State.
