Biography of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu

Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu is a Nigerian politician, entrepreneur and humanitarian from Delta State. She was born on 4 May 1980 in Sapele, Delta State, and is a daughter of former Delta State Governor, James Ibori. She currently represents the Ethiope East/Ethiope West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Ibori-Suenu began her education at Field-Crest High School in Warri, where she obtained her West African Examination Council certificate. She later studied in the United Kingdom, attending Bellerbys College, Brighton, before studying Pharmacy at Liverpool John Moores University. She subsequently obtained a BSc in Business Studies with Information Systems from the University of Buckingham in 2005.

Before entering elective politics, she was involved in entrepreneurship and humanitarian activities. She founded Richard & Raphael Bakeries and later established RiraField Farms Limited, an agribusiness enterprise in Oghara. In 2011, she founded the Starlite Hopes Initiative, a humanitarian organisation focused on healthcare, community support and assistance to vulnerable people.

Her political career began with an appointment as Legislative Aide to Senator Ifeanyi Okowa between 2011 and 2014. In 2015, she was elected to the Delta State House of Assembly to represent Ethiope West State Constituency. She served for two terms and became Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations.

In the 2023 general election, Ibori-Suenu was elected to the House of Representatives to represent the Ethiope East/Ethiope West Federal Constituency. In the 10th National Assembly, she serves as Chairman of the House Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), with legislative interests that include human-capacity development, youth and women's empowerment, healthcare and regional development.

Ibori-Suenu was originally elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but later moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2024. Her political career has therefore included service at both the state and federal legislative levels.

Through her political, entrepreneurial and humanitarian activities, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu has remained active in public affairs in Delta State, particularly within the Ethiope East and Ethiope West communities.
