Biography of Hon. Emmanuel Idiagbon Paddy Iyamu

Dr. Emmanuel Idiagbon Paddy Iyamu is a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist and politician from Edo State. He is associated with Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State and is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In 2026, he emerged as the APC candidate for the Oredo Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.

Iyamu studied Business Administration at the University of Benin, where he obtained both his bachelor's degree and Master of Business Administration (MBA). He also holds professional qualifications in security and leadership and has undertaken executive studies at Oxford University Business School.

He began his professional career in the banking sector with Zenith Bank before moving into the oil and gas industry. In 2010, he joined Shell Petroleum Development Company and later worked with NPDC/Neconde Joint Venture, where he was involved in oil exploration and production activities. He subsequently ventured into private business and became Chief Executive Officer of Gabbem Integrated Services Limited, a company involved in marine equipment and services.

Beyond his professional career, Iyamu has been involved in philanthropic activities. Through his foundation, he has supported initiatives including medical outreaches, free surgeries, assistance for widows and vulnerable people, grants for entrepreneurs and other community-focused programmes.

His public-service career expanded in November 2024 when he was appointed Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). He subsequently became Commissioner for Education in Edo State in January 2025, succeeding Joan Osa Oviawe. In that position, he was involved in the administration and development of the state's education sector.

Iyamu has also been active in Edo State politics and the APC. In March 2026, he formally declared his intention to contest the Oredo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. He subsequently emerged as the APC candidate for the constituency for the 2027 general election.

Emmanuel Idiagbon Paddy Iyamu's career therefore spans banking, the oil and gas industry, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, education administration and politics. His 2027 candidacy represents his move from executive public service into the contest for federal legislative representation of Oredo.
