About Ekpo Paul Asuquo (Hon.)

Biography of Hon. Ekpo Paul Asuquo

Hon. Ekpo Paul Asuquo, popularly known as Obong Paul Ekpo, is a Nigerian politician and legislator from Akwa Ibom State. He has built a career in public service and politics, with extensive experience in grassroots administration and legislative representation.

Before entering the National Assembly, Ekpo served as the Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He also served as Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), where he was involved in coordinating local government affairs and promoting grassroots development.

In the 2023 general election, Ekpo was elected to the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency. He is a member of the 10th National Assembly and has participated in legislative activities concerning development and the welfare of his constituents.

As a federal legislator, Ekpo has focused on constituency development, infrastructure, education, youth empowerment and other programmes intended to improve the welfare of people across Etinan, Nsit Ibom and Nsit Ubium. His previous experience in local government administration has also shaped his approach to grassroots representation.

In July 2025, Ekpo was among Akwa Ibom federal lawmakers who moved from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, the official 2027 INEC final list identifies him as the PDP candidate for the Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency, so his current electoral status should be treated according to the official candidate list.

With experience spanning local government administration, grassroots leadership and federal legislation, Hon. Ekpo Paul Asuquo remains an established political figure in Akwa Ibom State and a representative of the Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium constituency.
