Hon. Dolapo Badru, whose full name is Enitan Akanni Dolapo-Badru, is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and public servant from Lagos State. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and represents Lagos Island I Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was also selected by the APC as its candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
Born on 30 January 1953, Badru has built a career spanning business, public administration, and politics. He obtained a Higher National Diploma in Education in 1986, followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1991 and a PhD in Business Administration in 1997.
Before entering elective politics, Badru developed experience in the private sector and established himself as a businessman. He is the founder and chairman of DOLBAD Insurance Brokers, where he developed professional experience in business management and insurance-related activities.
Badru later entered public service in Lagos State. Between 2003 and 2007, he served as Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State. He subsequently served as Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development from 2007 to 2015, where he was involved in policies and programmes relating to young people and social development.
His political career at the federal level began with his election to the House of Representatives in 2015, representing Lagos Island I Federal Constituency under the APC. He was subsequently re-elected and has remained a member of the National Assembly.
During his time in the House of Representatives, Badru has participated in legislative debates, committee activities, oversight functions, and constituency representation. His professional background in business and administration has also influenced his involvement in economic and commercial matters.
He has served as Chairman of the House Committee on Industry, where his responsibilities include legislative oversight of matters relating to Nigeria's industrial sector and policies affecting industrial development.
Badru has also maintained an interest in youth development, education, industry, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and social development. His previous experience as Commissioner for Youth and Social Development has remained an important part of his public-service profile.
At the constituency level, he has maintained engagement with residents and community stakeholders in Lagos Island I. His constituency activities have included initiatives connected with education, empowerment, infrastructure, and social welfare.
In May 2026, Badru won the APC primary for Lagos Island I Federal Constituency, securing the party's ticket for the 2027 House of Representatives election. He was among the returning lawmakers selected by the APC to contest again in Lagos State.
Through his career as a businessman, educationist, administrator, commissioner, politician, and legislator, Hon. Dolapo Badru has established himself as a notable political figure in Lagos State. His public career has particularly focused on youth development, industry, education, business, social development, and legislative representation.
