Biography of Hon. Danladi Sunday Chiya

Hon. Danladi Sunday Chiya is a Nigerian politician and grassroots administrator from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He is popularly known as Danladi Bomboyei Chiya and has built his political career around local government administration and community development in Kwali Area Council. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chiya served as Chairman of Kwali Area Council and was elected to the position in 2019. He was subsequently returned for a second term after emerging as the APC's consensus candidate for the 2022 FCT Area Council elections. During his tenure, his administration focused on grassroots infrastructure, agriculture, water supply, rural roads, electrification and youth-oriented initiatives.

His administration also placed emphasis on the agricultural sector, reflecting the importance of farming to communities across Kwali. Projects and interventions during his tenure included road construction and rehabilitation, provision of boreholes, solar-powered electrification and support for farmers and local communities.

Chiya has remained active in FCT politics after his tenure as area council chairman. For the 2027 general election, he is listed as the APC candidate for the Abaji/Gwagwalada/Kwali/Kuje Federal Constituency of the FCT. His political career therefore spans grassroots administration at the area-council level and a subsequent move toward federal legislative representation.

Hon. Danladi Sunday Chiya's public career has centred largely on grassroots governance, community development, agriculture and infrastructure, particularly within Kwali and the wider FCT.
