Kano | House of representatives
Chiroma Mohammed Garba is a Nigerian politician and lawmaker from Kano State. He was born on 3 January 1964 and has built a political career centred on legislative representation and public service. He represents the Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and has remained active in Kano State politics for several years.
Chiroma entered the National Assembly as a member of the House of Representatives in 2015. He was elected to represent Gezawa/Gabasawa and subsequently retained his seat in the 2019 general elections. His continued presence in the House has made him one of the more experienced representatives from the constituency.
In the 2023 general elections, Chiroma Mohammed Garba won another term in the House of Representatives on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). His victory gave him a third consecutive term, covering the 2015–2019, 2019–2023 and 2023–2027 legislative periods.
During his time in the National Assembly, Chiroma has participated in legislative proceedings and constituency representation, focusing on issues affecting his constituents and the wider interests of Kano State. His experience across several assemblies has also given him familiarity with the legislative process and the workings of the federal parliament.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Chiroma became part of the political realignment taking place within the House of Representatives. In 2025, he defected from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside a number of other lawmakers. The move placed him within the APC's political structure as preparations for the 2027 elections intensified.
Chiroma's political career has therefore spanned multiple election cycles and party platforms, while his representation has remained focused on the Gezawa/Gabasawa Federal Constituency. His long tenure in the House reflects his continued involvement in federal legislative politics and the political affairs of his constituency.
As the 2027 elections approach, Chiroma Mohammed Garba remains a notable political figure in Kano State, particularly within Gezawa and Gabasawa. His experience as a three-term federal lawmaker and his subsequent movement to the APC form an important part of his political profile as he continues his involvement in national and constituency-level politics.
