Biography of Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji

Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is a Nigerian politician and public servant from Abia State. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and has served in both the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was born on 25 December 1970 in Abia State. He is the son of Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji, a former Governor of Abia State and former senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District.

Orji received his early education in Nigeria before proceeding to higher education. He studied Business Administration and developed professional experience in business and public affairs before entering active politics.

His political career began at the state and grassroots levels, where he became involved in political organisation and community activities in Abia State. His background and political involvement eventually led to his emergence as a candidate for elective office.

In 2015, Orji was elected to the House of Representatives, representing Umuahia North/Umuahia South/Ikwuano Federal Constituency of Abia State. He served in the National Assembly and participated in legislative debates, committee activities, oversight functions, and constituency representation.

In the 2019 general elections, he contested and won the Abia Central Senatorial District seat. He subsequently became a member of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

During his time in the Senate, Orji participated in legislative activities covering areas such as education, infrastructure, healthcare, economic development, youth empowerment, and community development. He also served on various Senate committees and took part in oversight of government agencies and programmes.

Orji has maintained a strong interest in the development of Abia Central Senatorial District.
