About Biodun Oyebanji

Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) has been the Governor of Ekiti State since October 16, 2022, following his election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was born on December 21, 1967, in Ikogosi-Ekiti, and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Science from Ondo State University (now EKSU) and the University of Ibadan.

Governor Oyebanji has a diverse professional background spanning academia, banking, and agribusiness. He lectured at the University of Ado-Ekiti, worked in treasury management in the banking sector, and later served as CEO of Con Dois Farms Ltd.

A key figure in Ekiti State’s political history, he has been involved in public service since the state’s creation in 1996. He served as Chief of Staff, Commissioner in several ministries, and Secretary to the State Government before becoming governor.

His administration operates under a “Shared Prosperity” agenda. For 2026, he signed a ₦415.57 billion “Budget of Sustainable Governance,” focused on infrastructure completion, food security, and power expansion. He also emerged as the APC consensus candidate for the July 20, 2026, governorship election. He is married to Dr. (Mrs.) Olayemi Oyebanji, and they have three children.
