About Dikko Umaru Radda

Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, has been the Governor of Katsina State since May 29, 2023, after winning the 2023 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was born on September 10, 1969, in Hayin Gada, Katsina State, and has an extensive academic background in agriculture, rural sociology, and international affairs, culminating in a Ph.D. from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He began his career as a teacher, later moving into banking and public administration. His political experience includes serving as Chairman of Charanchi Local Government Area, holding roles at the National Assembly, acting as APC National Welfare Secretary, serving as Chief of Staff to the Katsina State Governor, and leading SMEDAN as Director-General.

Governor Radda’s administration is guided by the “Building Your Future” agenda. His ₦897.8 billion 2026 “People’s Budget” emphasizes capital development, community-driven security initiatives, and key infrastructure projects. He also serves as Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum. He holds the traditional title of Gwagwaren Katsina, is a recipient of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), and is married with children.
