About Malam Umar Namadi

Malam Umar A. Namadi, FCA (Danmodi), is the Governor of Jigawa State, sworn in on May 29, 2023, after winning the 2023 gubernatorial election under the All Progressives Congress (APC). Born on April 7, 1963, in Kafin Hausa, he holds a B.Sc. in Accounting and an MBA from Bayero University, Kano, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

He has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, including leadership roles at Dangote Group, NHIS, and as Jigawa State Commissioner of Finance and Economic Planning. He also served as Deputy Governor from 2019 to 2023.

Governor Namadi’s administration is guided by a 12-Point Agenda “Greater Jigawa”. The ₦901.84 billion 2026 “Budget of Innovation and Transformation” prioritizes infrastructure, education, health, and agriculture. Key projects include road construction, enhanced education and health funding, and food security initiatives. He has received awards for leadership and religious contributions and is respected for fiscal prudence and transparent governance.
