Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is a Nigerian politician and public administrator who serves as the Governor of Adamawa State. He is widely recognized for his commitment to good governance, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and public sector reforms. Born on 27 October 1967 in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Fintiri obtained his education in Nigeria before pursuing a career in public service and politics. His leadership qualities and dedication to service earned him increasing responsibilities within the political landscape of Adamawa State.
Before becoming governor, Fintiri served as a Member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, representing Madagali Constituency. During his legislative career, he rose to become the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, where he played a significant role in strengthening legislative governance and promoting democratic accountability. In 2014, he briefly served as the Acting Governor of Adamawa State following the impeachment of the state's governor.
In the 2019 gubernatorial election, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was elected Governor of Adamawa State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was re-elected for a second term in 2023. Since assuming office, his administration has focused on improving infrastructure, expanding access to quality education and healthcare, enhancing security, empowering youths and women, and promoting economic growth through investments in agriculture and other critical sectors.
