Biography of Hon. Abubakar Hassan Fulata

Hon. Abubakar Hassan Fulata is a Nigerian politician and educationist from Jigawa State. Born on 3 March 1959, he represents the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He is a ranking member of the 10th National Assembly and currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on University Education.

Fulata has a background in education and holds a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Teacher’s Grade II Certificate. His experience in education and public service preceded his rise in national politics, and he has remained active in representing the interests of his constituents in Jigawa State.

He was first elected to the House of Representatives to represent Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma and has since served multiple terms. During the 9th National Assembly, he chaired the House Committee on Rules and Business, where he was involved in parliamentary procedures and the coordination of legislative business.

In the 10th Assembly, Fulata was appointed Chairman of the House Committee on University Education. In this role, he has participated in legislative oversight of Nigeria’s university education sector and matters concerning higher education institutions. He has also sponsored and supported several legislative proposals covering areas such as electoral reform, healthcare and the development of educational institutions.

Beyond legislation, Fulata has facilitated constituency projects and interventions in Birniwa, Guri and Kirikasamma, including educational institutions, road infrastructure, bridges, water projects, rural electrification and employment opportunities. He has also represented Nigeria at international parliamentary engagements, including activities connected with the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Fulata remains an established political figure in Jigawa State and is listed as the APC candidate for the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
