Kano | House of representatives
Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa is a Nigerian politician, businessman and academic from Kano State. He was born on 9 September 1976 in Kano and represents the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has served in the National Assembly across multiple terms.
Jibrin had his early education in Kano, Kaduna and Abuja before pursuing higher education. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Abuja in 1999, followed by a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2003. He later obtained a PhD in International Relations and further pursued an MBA and executive education at institutions including Harvard Business School, London Business School and INSEAD.
He entered federal politics through the House of Representatives, first representing Kiru/Bebeji in 2011. He later moved to the APC and was re-elected in 2015. During his time in the National Assembly, he chaired the House Committee on Finance and later became associated with other important committees, including Appropriations. His legislative work covered areas such as public finance, taxation, budgeting, infrastructure and economic policy.
Jibrin also served in the Federal Housing Authority as Executive Director of Business Development after leaving the National Assembly. His professional career outside elective politics has included business, academic activities and involvement in development-oriented initiatives.
In the 2019 election, Jibrin returned to the House of Representatives and won the Kiru/Bebeji seat on the APC platform. He subsequently contested the 2023 election under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and won the constituency again. In 2025, after leaving the NNPP, he returned to the APC and resumed his political activities within the party.
Jibrin has also been involved in community and educational initiatives. Through philanthropic activities, he has supported educational programmes and community projects, particularly in Kano State. His political activities have remained closely connected to the people of Kiru and Bebeji and to broader political developments in Kano.
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Abdulmumin Jibrin is listed by the APC as its House of Representatives candidate for the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency. His career combines academic training, business experience, public administration and legislative service, with his political work spanning more than a decade in Kano State and at the national level.
