About Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali (Hon.)

Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali, popularly known as Halims, is a Nigerian politician and federal lawmaker from Kogi State. Born on 16 August 1964, he represents the Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and currently serves as the Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives.

Ali began his political career at the state level before moving into federal legislative politics. He served as a member of the Kogi State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011, representing his constituents and participating in legislative activities at the state level. His experience in the state legislature provided a foundation for his later bid for the National Assembly.

He contested for the House of Representatives in the 2019 general elections and was elected to represent Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency on the APC platform. He was subsequently re-elected in 2023, beginning a second term in the 10th National Assembly. His continued representation has focused on legislative responsibilities as well as issues affecting development within his constituency.

During his time in the National Assembly, Ali has held important leadership responsibilities. He served as Chairman of the House Committee on Steel, where his responsibilities included legislative oversight of Nigeria's steel sector and related government institutions. In July 2023, he was appointed Deputy Leader of the House, placing him among the principal officers of the 10th National Assembly.

His political and public-service activities have also extended beyond the National Assembly. He has served as Chairman of the Kogi State Water Board, was a member of an FCT election panel, and has participated in the Kogi State APC Reconciliation Committee. He has also served as Chairman of the Elders Advisory Council for the Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency.

As a representative, Ali has been associated with constituency development projects covering areas such as roads, water supply and educational infrastructure. His constituency activities have included projects involving road construction, boreholes and classroom facilities in communities within the federal constituency.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali secured the APC ticket for the Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency after emerging as the party's candidate during the 2026 primary process. His selection places him on the ballot as he seeks a third term in the House of Representatives. His political career now spans state-level legislative service and multiple terms in the National Assembly, alongside his current role as Deputy Leader of the House.
